About Jesse Gio
I am 22 years old and work as a junior sommelier with a deep passion for wine. For me, wine is more than just a drink; it is an experience, a story that starts with the winemaker and ends in the glass. I soon shared this passion with my good friend Gio, and together we decided to set up Vinolussa – a wine import company focused on introducing hidden treasures from the wine world.
During a trip through Croatia we discovered the special wines of the Vukušić winery. The unique flavors and craftsmanship of the winemaker inspired us so much that we decided to bring unknown wines from emerging regions to the Netherlands. At Vinolussa, Gio and I combine our knowledge and love for artisanal, authentic wines to introduce people to the traditions and passions that lie behind every bottle.
Our goal is not only to introduce new flavors, but also to share the stories of the winemakers with enthusiasts and hospitality businesses in the Netherlands. Together we hope to build a bridge between passionate winemakers and an audience that appreciates their craftsmanship with Vinolussa.
About Darko, Katica & Darija
For 30 years, Darko and Katica Vukušić have been passionately managing their vineyards, doing most of the work by hand. Their sustainable approach relies on traditional methods, such as spontaneous fermentation and the use of wild yeasts, to preserve the authenticity of their cellar and perfectly express the unique characteristics of their terroir.
With an eye on the future, Darko and Katica’s daughter Darija represents the next generation of Vukušić winemakers. While pursuing her Master’s degree at the University of Agriculture in Zagreb, Darija is preparing to take on a leading role in winemaking alongside Darko, ensuring the family tradition continues.
